Very happy with product (5/5) Jan 9, 2009 John Stone Carrollton TX US
This is an amazing device. I bought it for use with my Jeep to replace an Etrex Legend that died last summer. I decided to add the Map Navigation software. This gives me the best of both worlds. Autmatic route navigation or off road topographical information simply by switching the profiles. Very easy and intuitive to use. highly recommend it.
Profiles turn this into a four-fold system (5/5) Jul 30, 2008 Scott Anderson Logan Utah US
Garmin has done a great job managing the multi-function capability of this system. By allowing you to select a "profile", you can quickly change the behavior between Geocacheing, Driving, Biking, and Hiking. In a specific profile all of commonly-used buttons and settings are customized. A pretty neat idea, and a big improvement over past Garmin GPS units that I've owned.

Took the kids out last night and found our first Geocache together!
Excellent product (5/5) Jul 29, 2008 Paul Jenkins East Lansing MI US
Very intuitive and easy to use. The touch screen is great and quickly allows you to navigate through the menus. After lots of research, I bought this unit because it has the accuracy of a hand-held, the ability to map directions in the car, plus a lot of other functions that made this product an obvious choice.
Simple to use (5/5) Jul 27, 2008 Lon Sawyer Tacoma Wa US
My first Gps only took me a couple of days to learn how to use. Love the touch screen. I like the small size too can fit in pant pocket. I would get the car adapter and car holder if you are going to use it in the car. It does go through alkaline batteries fast. I wish it had speech recognition on it.
Touchscreen is great (5/5) Jul 20, 2008 Sherwin Van Otterloo Rock Valley Iowa US
I've had this unit a few days now an am very impressed. The touchscreen works great an it is very fast getting around the different menus. You can easily hold the unit in one hand and use your thumb for nearly all the menu functions.
I've been using it only for geocaching and that will be it's main purpose. The cache descriptions, cache logs and the ability to upload your field notes (cache finds) to the geocache website makes this a great geocaching gps.
Garmin scores a Grand Slam with the Oregon 400t (5/5) Jul 16, 2008 Jerry Siegel Bend OR US
I'm a long time Garmin fan, this is my 5th one. My first was the Garmin 45, the 400t could very well be my last for quite some time. First off, the most striking item in the box was the instruction booklet, clear large print, concise and in English. I love touch screens, the 400t's is easy to use and very intuitive. The onscreen buttons fit my fingers nicely, they sould even be fine with light gloves on. There are lots of menus and lots of choices, all avalible with a touch of your finger or stylus (not included). Entering text is a breeze, just type on the screen.
The unit is quite robust. It fits nicely in the hand and is sized such that you can operate the screen buttons one handed. The battery cover has a simple quick latch to open it, no awkward thumb screws. The screen has a matte finish that shows up well in direct sunlight. Finally someone figured out that gloss screens are a pain.
I like the profile feature that lets you save all of your current screen layouts as a single profile. Simply select the saved profile and all settings for that profile become active.
Pros: super easy navigation screens, intuitive, robust, touch screens, imports GPX files
Cons: none, well maybe $
Conclusion: It took some pretty serious selling to get my wife to let me buy yet another GPS. But it was well worht it. Even at this price, I'm a very happy camper. As usual GPSNOW.com provided flawless service.
