I have owned and extensively used the Garmin Street Pilot 2720, the nuvi 360 and nuvi 660. The nuvi 855 is definitely the best one I have ever used, even when compared to those built into some of the high end luxury cars I have been in. Garmin continues to make it easier to use right out of the box. I love the Trip Log feature which I will download into my computer Mapsource program to better understand the map and what I have done. The automatic save of “Last Position” is also great for finding your car in a large parking lot, as I just tried it out tonight. The only times I have had difficulty following routes while using the previous GPS units, while in unfamiliar regions, was with multiple lanes. I would be in the wrong lane until too late. The new Lane Assist feature will eliminate that problem. The speakers are of a much better quality, and playing music from this unit, without any ear phones, is actually better than from the new iPod Touch when using its built in speaker instead! My only disappointment is no BlueTooth which I thought was included when I purchased it. The nuvi 660 and 360 both have it. I figured this high a model would also have Bluetooth but was wrong. I now wish I got the 855T. Maybe my favorite new feature is the “Where Am I” feature. When you turn this on, you see exact address, altitude, upcoming intersections, coordinates, and if you keep this feature on, it automatically updates that information as you drive. You also have ready access to finding gas stations hospitals and police stations, although I hope to only use the gas station feature. |
