| Unlike Any other (5/5) | Oct 13, 2008 | Benjamin Laughead | Columbia South Carolina US | |
| This GPS is unlike any I have ever used. I have owned a number of others and used some through the rental car companies. This GPS is still able to be viewed while wearing polarized sunglasses! It displays Speed Limits on most major roads as you drive. Never ask again - "What's the speed limit here?" And for those that have the loved ones that just have to know " Where are you?" - theres a button on here for that too! Just click on "Where am I?" and tell them your location by nearest address and nearest intersection. You can even look to see what the nearest hospitals and gas stations are to you by clicking that button. Don't hesitate on this purchase. Only day one of owning it and love it! | ||||
| Traffic and Bluetooth (5/5) | Oct 14, 2008 | Mark | Jackson NJ US | |

My first GPS unit, and I wanted to get the right one. This one rocks. Garmin reliability, maps and re-routing. Very cool to have the bluetooth connection to my phone, and not have to wear the headset. I have not used the traffic feature, as I'm just going local back roads, but if it saves me one traffic jam a year... it will be worth it. |

| my wife loves it (5/5) | Oct 10, 2008 | Gil Molina | Virginia Beach VA US | |

First GPS unit. The 2009 maps that comes preloaded provides all the locations for new stores and restaurents within the Virginia Beach area. Some of these restaurants opened last year. All the streets and directions have been accurate from here to Hampton, VA., my everyday commute. The traffic updates are accurate. Even though I'm traveling at 65 mph, I noticed that it shows moderate traffic when a large number of vechiles are on the road. Voices that are provided seem computer generated but are easily understood. Very easy to use. Unfortunately, my wife loves it so it's always in her SUV. It provides possible answers as you begin to type in names, address, etc. Makes it easy to quickly find an address or location. Only thing I don't like is the bulky lighter plug. It's about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. Seems kind of cumbersome. I haven't used it in pedistrian mode yet. Obtains satilite location with 5-10 seconds after turning it on. |

| Maximizing the traffic tools (5/5) | Oct 21, 2008 | C. Richards | Portland Oregon US | |

I upgraded from a Garmin c330 to the nuvi 265wt primarily for the traffic functionality. In Portland Oregon the traffic service covers all major highways, so its very easy to get updates on the all the thoroughfares using the "traffic search" function. The traffic tool also shows delays for construction and accidents on roads that are not monitored for traffic flow. These tools are great functions to check when starting your trip. Major freeways will show green if flowing normally and red or yellow depending on the severity of the delay. Once traveling, the system displays how much of a delay there is on your route and where it will occur. I've discovered however that if the traffic avoidance box in the settings menu is checked, and if your route has moderate traffic delays the nuvi will route you around the high flow thoroughfares and onto surface streets. This is due to the fact that the flow on those streets are not monitored by the traffic service and therefore not reported as being delayed (unless there's a collision which is reported and does show on the Nuvi). The result is that the nuvi calculates them as the fastest route. This obviously isn't always the case in rush hour. What I've done is turn off the automatic "avoid traffic" function in the settings menu. The nuvi then puts me on the shortest route, even if there is some traffic. It also immediately shows the delay time to the route. If during the trip a particular segment gets slow, I can then simply press an on screen avoid button that will route me around that specific slow spot, thus giving me the shortest and fastest route. Using this funtion is VERY easy. This unit is a fantastic improvement over my c330, and anyone wanting traffic support without a subscription fee will be very pleased with this unit. The traffic reporting, fed by the DOT through Navteq is as real time as one can reasonably expect. Other upgrades: *Bluetooth function works well. *qwerty keyboard is much easier than former alphabetic. *POI database quite thorough *non glare screen is great and easy to read in direct sunlight *Where am I feature is nice. You can't go wrong with the included traffic functions - highly recommended. |

| like it so far (4/5) | Oct 11, 2008 | Mathew Samuel | New York NY US | |

I had the iQue 3600 earlier. It just died recently so I was in the market for a GPS unit. I settled on this one (nuvi 265wt) as it had lifetime traffic/bluetooth + spoken street names. The older unit had a hard-time getting a lock on my position (I live in Manhattan, with lots of tall buildings); this unit is way better, but I was still disappointed with the satellite acquisition time. Overall the unit is quick, Bluetooth works well with my Palm Centro, spoken directions are clear and the 3-D map view is cool. I think with the free (included) life-time traffic it's a great value. |
