Actually I would rate this at at least 4.5 stars. Perhaps I should have done more homework. I am dissapointed that you can not input a route of your own for a trip. You have to rely on the Nuvi choice. I realize you can deviate from the provided route and the GPS will recalculate. My Garmin etrex Vista allows you to input a complete trip, but only tracks your progress and it could care less if you deviate and it only calculates distance as the crow flies. I am looking forward to being lost one day and asking my new Nuvi 660 for help and directions. Other than this, it appears to be a great product and one that will accompany me where ever I go.
Very pleased with GPSNow; amazed at how fast it got here.
Garmin Nuvi 660 (4/5) Apr 30, 2007 Adam Reed Middletown Ohio US
I own multiple Garmin GPS units and the Nuvi 660 is a great addition. The advantages of the Nuvi 660 are the size and clarity of the screen and the increased coverage of the new antenna system. I only lost a signal once over the past 2 weeks and that was when I forgot to turn the unit off while going through a car wash. I love the ability to transmit through the FM on my car radio.

The down sides are the fact that the owner manual comes on a CD. I liked having the chance to thumb through at my own pace with the previous models. The other thing is that yes the unit works directly out of the box but if I did not already know how to check for updates on the unit through the Garmin website, I believe that would have escaped me. Another change on this unit is the fact that you can no longer see a list of the step by step directions of a calculated route, ie. Mapquest dircections.

All in all the unit is great and I am happy with my purchase.
Good but not great (4/5) Dec 13, 2006 Richard Rosin Manahawkin NJ US
Unit works great bought it at GPS NOW.com.. great price Unit voice is a little choppy and wants to cut out at the end of directions and releasing unit is very difficult but all in all very satisfied with this unit
Love It (4/5) Nov 18, 2006 Linda Gilmore Rancho Cucamonga CA US
I really did not want to spend this much on the GPS unit but I do love it and it is easy to operate and to see when driving also it is loud enough you can hear it while driving. I use the headphones when listening to the books and it makes your long drive go by very quickly. The only thing is the accessories that I needed such as the mount for CA costs you another $100 for you have to buy two things for the one weighted mount which I do not understand why that would be. You then have an extra unit you will not use for one little part you needed out of it. Also the amount of music you can download is not much and you will need to buy another memory card if you want to use the MP3 player. Not sure how to use the bluetooth as of yet or the transmission through the car radio. I am sure that will come with time. It is great to have a GPS it has made my trips enjoyable and saved me one time looking for a gas station when I was on empty.

[Editor's note: The nüvi 660 ships with a Dashboard Disk that can be used with the included suction cup mount. Alternatively the nüvi 660 Automotive Mounting Bracket (010-10823-02) - $34.95 and Portable Non-Skid Friction Mount (010-10306-00) - $29.95 can be purchased for dashboard use.]
New to Nuvi (4/5) Nov 4, 2006 diddy Newburgh NY US
Garmin's 660 is my first GPS unit & like many other of you guys, I'd rather plug it in & play, rather than read all of the instruction manuels. That theory is working out OK for me so far but one problem that I am trying to work through right now is the distance that the unit is listing locations. In other words, I know how far is it to get to work, but the Nuvi has it at much less of a milage distance than it is??? I only hope that there's some updates that I haven't performed yet that will mkae the mileage more accurate.

[Editor's note: The unit shows straight line distances to locations until a route is created. Once a route is created to a location the unit takes into account actual driving distance]
