Spent quite a bit of time reading reviews on the Garm 76CSx and bought it. Wow, what a unit that is accurate and reliable. I use it to locate gas well sites and roads leading to gas wells. I'd still be looking for them if I didn't have this unit. |

I purchased the 76CSx in April 2006. I am extremely please with my choice! Before I was going to purchase ANY unit from any one of the different brands available, I read everything available to read about the various features they had different to offer. The SiRF® high-sensitivy receiver is phenomenal!!! This unit really does obtain satellite reception and will hold onto it in the dense foliage of the land as if like it’s out in an open field with no blockage! With the expandable memory card capability I am able to keep even more downloaded maps without being limited to a fixed size built-in memory. I highly recommend the Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx! |

| My best handheld GPS device yet (5/5) | Dec 9, 2007 | Dave B. | Seattle WA US | |

I have had this unit for several month now. It is very easy to use and has a nice bright display. Loading the optional maps adds an amazing dimension to the device. The 128 MB memory device wasn't as large as I wanted so I ordered the 2 GB option. The entire North America City Navigator DVD takes up 1 GB. Now the unit will tell me about the restaurants, hotels, etc that my Nuvi 760 knows about. The unit has done very well on several long hikes in the pouring rain here in Seattle. No water problems at all. |

| My Third GPSmap 76 (5/5) | Feb 14, 2007 | Randy C. | Spokane WA US | |
| I love all my 76's going way back to my first one, a GPSmap 76S. I upgraded to the 76CS and actually missed a feature or two on my 76S, but because the new unit had routable maps I understood why they eliminated some of what I liked. Next cross street for example. I then upgraded to the 76CSx and again I’m more than satisfied and the x upgrade is will worth it just for the better reception not to mention the larger memory via the micro SD card. It’s the only unit I have ever owned that got reception on 4th floor of my office building without setting it on the window ledge near the window with the most horizon located sats. If you don’t need the marine orientation of this unit (including that it floats) then consider the 60CSx. If you end up needing help Garmin phone support is fantastic. I used to say the same about Hewlett Packard and then they moved phone support out of the county. Garmin deserves your support just because they haven’t done that. Have fun! | ||||

With the extra street navigation software, this is extremely versitile. For example you can set parameters such as allowing or not allowing U turns, so if a road is blocked and you turn around, you force it to find an alternative route. I also use it on a sailboat, and like the "velocity made good" feature. Recently I took it on a cross-country air flight, and could tell the speed of the plane, its elevation, the elevation to which the cabin was pressured, and also what I was looking at out the window, and where I was, etc. I held it to the window to help it locate itself, and then could just set it on the tray or the tray of the seat one over from the window. My first GPS was a Garmin 12. This is both much easier to use and enormously more capable. I went for a color unit because it is easier to read outdoors. |

| So far so good ... (4/5) | Dec 13, 2006 | Norm Weaver | Fort Collins CO US | |
| I've used Garmin GPS units for years - the new 76CSx seems to deliver - fast satellite acquisition, good performance in trees, good routing, readable screen with flexible display options - worth the price if additional performance in a handheld is desired. | ||||

| This is my 1st GPS system after borrowing a friends unit for a Keys vacation. I had a problem with the first 2 units, but Garmin worked with me to finally get one that works as it should. I really like the unit & all the features it can perform. The software is a little expensive, but I live by the saying...You get what you pay for. | ||||
| Love the GPSMAP 76CSx (4/5) | Nov 16, 2006 | Darrell Mason | Jacksonville Fl US | |
| I received this unit to upgrade an older GPS 12 that I had. I really love this new MapGPS. The set up menu was easy and worked much like a computer with icons and easy step by step process. I really like the built in Hunt and Fish best times and the compass that gives you your direction without moving! This is by far the best looking display as compared to others I have looked at and the color is great. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. I intend to use it for fishing from my boat and also on hunting trips to mark my stand locations and keep a log of my track from the parking areas. | ||||
