| i just upgraded from an older garmin e-trex legend to the 60csx, based on reviews from other motorcyclists. i also got the handlebar mount and hard-wire power kit. after using the unit (on battery power, haven't had time to wire it in) for a week, i'm quite pleased. the screen is easy to read, the buttons are easy to get to, even while riding, and the unit seems to be noticeably more accurate and consistent than the e-trex models. on particularly abrubt jolts (wheelie-drops across big washouts, or slap-down front-wheel landings) the batteries would still get jolted enough to shut the unit off, but that only happened a couple times during the week, and i expect the hard-wire kit will cure this. the battery compartment is definitely more stable than the e-trex. | ||||

After researching many GPS units, I decided to upgrade to a Garmin 60CSx. When it came in the mail (yesterday), I played with it for about an hour, checking out all the exra features it had compared to my old GPS. I then set out to do what any owner of a new GPS does, check to see how accurate it REALLY is. I was absolutely amazed, along with my friend. We consistantly navigated with the 60CSx, to within 10ft of our market target. This unit will not only get you back to camp, it will take you to the front door of your tent. With the new SiRF antenna, the acquisition time was very fast, and it maintained excellent signal strength. This along with the electronic compass, versitle color display, and overall ease of use, it has won a stong two thumbs up from me. I'll be using it during all my outdoor activities, whether I'm hunting, fishing, hiking, or geocaching. Thanks Garmin for a great reliable product. |

| The ONLY way to geocache... (5/5) | Nov 16, 2006 | Chris Short | Salem IL US | |

After pulling my hair out caching with a basic GPSr of another manufacturer and getting frustrated, a friend suggested the Garmin 60CSx as THE GPSr to have since it will pick up satellites anywhere, even while sitting in your living room. I figured that would work for tree cover and it has never let me down. I switched to the 60CSx in mid-August and have not regretted the decision. Since this time I have passed along the praise of this product and three other area geocachers (including my son) have purchased the 60CSx. As more local cachers place caches out there with highly precise coordinates, my old GPSr was simply under powered. Repeatedly it would place me in the middle of the road, 50 to 75 feet away from the cache. I tried the Garmin 60CSx and literally walked to within a few yards of the cache. The 60CSx is amazing to use. It's simple, durable, and so accurate, I think I might have to be careful hiding my next cache or it will take all the difficulty and fun out of the next search. Also, the night-time contrast is wonderful for those late night drives home. No flashlights or worry about glare. This GPSr has everything I could want. Thanks to Garmin for a product worth investing in! |
