This is a great unit for backpackers or other groups . I use these with a kids backpacking group. The kids can wander and if they get lost, they can use the go to feature to get back to me. If there is a problem, they can reach me with the radio and then I can use the go to feature to find them. (An arrow points the way) The radio is great, has a very good range and I rarely get interference. I often use the radio with the gps feature turned off, this makes the batteries last a lot longer. The GPS is fast and compared to other units, accurate. I like the joystick access I wish Garmin would make up their mind on the feature buttons. My club owns several different garmin units and they same to change the buttons often! I own a Rino 520 as well, I end up not using all the extra feature, the gps and go to others are the best features. This unit has all that and a better price. |
