I just received the Garmin eTrex Legend HCX via FedEx earlier today. It seems to be a great unit. I have been using the original eTrex Legend B/W unit for several years. What great changes have been made. The first thing I noticed was that the color display is very crisp and sharp and very easy to view even in the bright sunlight. The next thing I noticed is how quickly the satellites were aquired. It only takes a moment and you are up and running. The last thing that really impressed me was the new more sensitive receiver. I am able to keep locked on even inside the house and in a vehicle. With the old original Legend it had to be placed at the very furtherest out point of the dash to keep locked in. At this point the only thing I noticed was that the Legend HCX always went back to WAAS Off status after it was shut down. That was the only thing I didn't like but maybe a firmware upgrade in the future could take care of that issue. All in all I am very pleased with the Garmin eTrex Legend HCX. |
