The StreetPilot GPS combines satellite tracking technology with
detailed electronic maps to bring GARMIN navigation to your automobile.
The safety and convenience of knowing where you are anywhere in the world,
in any weather, 24 hours a day is as close as your dash.
GARMIN's first product designed primarily for the automobile contains a
reference basemap
showing Interstate, U.S., and State highways, plus rivers
and lakes in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. With the optional MapSource
MetroGuide U.S.A. CD-ROMs* you'll see
details like the locations of restaurants, banks, gas stations, and
tourist attractions, plus much more. And you'll be able to drive
to any city address contained in our huge database using an
electronic map that shows street-level detail. All you need to do is enter
a street address or choose a point of interest (such as restaurants,
hotels, gas stations, banks, and shopping areas) and the StreetPilot will
display it on a map along with your current location. (It will not
compute a route between the points). *Requires

The StreetPilot features a high-performance twelve parallel channel GPS
receiver for quick satellite acquisition and reliable signal reception,
whether you're under dense tree cover or surrounded by high-rise
skyscrapers. A large high-resolution four-level gray scale display
offers razor-sharp images, even in direct sunlight—and with
GARMIN's new, three-level amber backlighting, navigating
in low-light situations is easier than ever. Text and graphics are shown
in large type for easy viewing with three-level backlighting for nighttime
use. Six AA batteries (not included) supply sixteen hours of operation, or
you can use the included free cigarette lighter adapter to power
the unit. Either way, you can quickly transfer your StreetPilot to
another vehicle for continuous pinpoint navigation. A free

MapSource™ CD-ROMs*
MapSource™ CDs provide high level detail
of roads, recreational areas, coastlines, navaids, lakes, boat ramps,
topography and more. A PC Interface cable is enclosed with each
StreetPilot to allow you to download MapSource™ CD Data between your PC
and StreetPilot. MapSource™ software also allows you to view color
maps on a personal computer, with zoom and pan functions for easy map
browsing. Users can then select individual maps in areas of interest and
transfer the maps to the StreetPilot or other compatible GPS.
Think of MapSource™ as an atlas that contains many
smaller maps. By choosing several of these maps, you can make a map
set. This map set can then be transferred to your GARMIN GPS, which
allows you to tailor the map detail for the geographic areas you wish to
view. For instance, if you are planning a trip by car, your map set might
only need to include those maps that are along your intended driving
route. MapSource gives you the flexibility to choose the extent of the
mapping coverage.
Use the trip and waypoint manager functions to create
waypoints, routes, and tracks, and transfer them between your GARMIN GPS
and your PC. This is excellent for planning your next outdoor adventure,
business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever leaving your
house.
*The StreetPilot requires a blank Memory Cartridge
in order to load MapSource™ CD-ROM data (order below).
