Dakota is a big, wild, wide open place that cries out for detailed maps.
And, the South Dakota Atlas & Gazetteer has maps that are worthy of
the land. In addition to the famous DeLorme backroad detail, the maps show
all but the tiniest lakes and streams. For hunters, we identify both
waterfowl and game production areas. There is also a wealth of information
on fishing, canoe trips, scenic drives, touring and mountain biking,
unique natural features and attractions. In honor of the state's earliest
inhabitants, there is a special section on South Dakota's tribal lands.
And, we've indexed the Atlas by geographic features (lakes, creeks,
canyons, ridges, etc.), to make it easy to find just about any location in
the state. The scale is 1:200,000 (1" to 3.2 miles). A mosaic of the
maps would measure approximately 10 feet wide by 7 feet high.
